Theme: Object of Desire

Everyone has a soft spot for something cute and adorable, be it a child or even a cute looking vacuum cleaner. Products are able to bring out the emotions of human beings and also conveying its own emotions with its form. As every product is designed with ‘form over function’, the challenge here is to create a functional product with character through the careful use of desirable form which targets not only children but also the larger market which are the adults.

Background


Wipey Dumpty is inspired by the egg-like nursery-rhyme character, Humpty-Dumpty.

The story goes like this:

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses and all the king's men
couldn’t put Humpty together again.


So what do you think Humpty Dumpty looks like after the fall?

Function

Wipey Dumpty is a functional display, suitable for display when not used and simply comes in handy when u need to clean up small messes.

Each has its own specific functions:

Dumpty 1, Liquid holder :

Liquid detergent or soap can be kept inside the rubber container which is inside of the body of Dumpty 1. Simply squeeze the exposed rubber handle to have liquid come out at the bottom.

Dumpty 2, Scrubber :

With a rougher cloth, Dumpty 2 can be used as a scrubber for stubborn stains.

Dumpty 3, Dry Wipe :

With the absorbent cloth, Dumpty 3 makes cleaning up mess a breeze.

Colour Proposal

There is 4 choices of which 2 is of the warm colours and 2 is of the cool colours

Warm Colours – Red, Orange, Yellow
Cool Colours – Purple, Blue, Green

Wipey Dumpty comes in these 2 groups of colours to cater to the preference of everyone that can be grouped into those more sensitive to the warm end of the spectrum and those more sensitive to the cold end.

Furthermore, warm colors are said to arouse or stimulate the viewer, while cool colors calm and relax. Consumer can therefore choose which colour of Wipey Dumpty to suit the mood they would like to create as a functional display.

Costing

Estimation of retail price:

Base on the plane fan from S & J Gift and Collection is made from injection molding and has similar complicated parts like Wipey Dumpty.
Based on this Plane Fan which is about RM 17.90


Wipey Dumpty has 3 injection molding parts:

3 x RM 17.90 = RM 53.70

Total estimated retail price of Wipey Dumpty is RM55
